Almost 2 weeks ago I shaved both sides of my head into a big mohawk + dyed my hair more red/blonde, bleached my eyebrows and got contacts.

Big change.  It’s weird to see how it’s affecting me and those around me.  Physical transformation is my thing, but wow!  To feel it in myself is pretty intense.  I’m so used to doing it to other people.  It’s great.  I feel much more inspired to do my makeup and have more fun with the way I look.

cdestruction:

I made this video for my editing class. I tried to make it as creepy and weird as possible. This is the first video I’ve ever made in Final Cut.

It’s a lil’ personal. I added everything that I’m terrified of and two things that I love (cats and cartoons).

I find the video incredibly offensive and a part of me isn’t sure if I like it. I’m really hoping to blow people’s mind with this video in a weird and intense way.

I’m going to Montreal in September to Cirque du Soleil’s HQ!

I have just been informed that I am going on a trip for a week of makeup training at Cirque du Soleil’s Montreal HeadQuarters!

I am beyond excited.  Not only will I receive 4 days of extensive training in all things Makeup by Cirque but they have asked me to teach a bit of something I know too so they can call it an information exchange ;)

Very VERY cool.  I have been hoping/praying for such an invitation and here it is confirmed at last!!  I have been working little freelance gigs with Cirque since 2008 and I am very excited to see where the future of my relationship with the company will take me.  Especially now that I know they are wanting to invest in me in such a big way.

Here are some cell snapshots I took from a shoot I did last week for Ben Nye cosmetics.

They just came out with a new “Zombie” wheel of fx colors and contacted me to see if I would be interested in putting together a shoot to be published in Stage Directions magazine to advertise their new product.

Of course!!! I got Sequoia Emmanuelle on board to do photography and asked fellow makeup artist Jill Fogel if she would be willing to model for the shoot.  Everyone was down to do it and the whole shoot was organized in 3 days by yours truly.  Look mom! I’m a producer! ;)  we all do it every now and then.

Ben Nye gave me so much product to thank me for doing the shoot and I’ve been playing around with all the new stuff since!  Love it!  Thank you Pat and Dana from Ben Nye for believing in me and giving me lots of goodies + opportunity to show off my art!

Looooove Ben Nye.  They were my first “real” makeup I started stocking up on back when I was first getting into professional makeup.  Around 15 years old I started designing all the makeups for theatre productions with my grandma and aunt in Georgia every summer.  I would teach all the backstage mom’s how to do the designs and assist me.  I always told everyone to buy Ben Nye and that’s all I used for a while.  Love the stuff.  It’s a dream come true.

I’ve asked them if I can demo for them at IMATS ;) ::fingers crossed::

The Plumed Serpent Gala I did makeup for last week in LA

So fun to feel like I had my own little art showing going on.

Ivette Hermann and I did makeup on the models walking around and I did makeup for most of the artwork Sequoia Emmanuelle was selling at the Gala.
